Thank you for addressing the McKenzie Chung Fagan/Thomas Keller kerfuffle. It was so hard to read her piece. I really felt for both of them, as Laurie said, but Keller really behaved badly. Chung Fagan isn’t just any SF Chronicle critic. She’s from the Bay Area and grew up in her family’s Chinese restaurant. She bravely confronts dining institutions that don’t live up to their reputations, and generously presents both high and low brow establishments that are doing great things. In a lot of ways, Keller represents the past of Bay Area food, and she represents the present.
I really enjoyed listening to your conversation! I felt I was there with you! What is the name of the restaurant that Nancy and Laurie mentioned in Marsciano?
Ruth, happy birthday to Michael! I loved hearing about Michael's birthday party. It sounds just like my Midwestern childhood upbringing. We ate so much good home-cooked food, and often on paper plates. My grandfather was a master barbecuer (he barbecued for our state governer by invite) to boot. Still a fond memory for me. I love beautiful dishes, but also--yay for paper plates!

Interesting to hear about the flour challenges in Italy.

I’m desperate to hear more about Nancy’s take on Italian baking flours!
Imagine blaming the ingredients for not fitting your childhood.
Enjoyed the conversation. thank you.
Checked in 24 frozen Kosher lttile capons from JFK to Galzeston for a Passover dinner.. Perfectly starting to defrost in time to start cooking..
