As a new subscriber (and expat Southern Californian) I want to say how happy I am to find this podcast and Substack. I used to drive up to LA for La Brea bread and dinner at Campanile. at least once a month. I bought a (very) large porcelain m&p and a smaller one at the bakery which moved with me to Maine. A couple of years ago when moving to Vermont I decided to give it to my favorite chef, Melissa Kelly at Primo but have kept the small one. So interesting to hear you talking about them. They are the best.
